Bridal Shower

I am looking for suggestions on where to have the bridal shower, also how many months before the wedding should the shower take place? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I don't want casual, but nothing too fancy. having it 6 months before is a good idea, i better book a place, i'm getting married in october. any suggestions? thanks!
