what time does a receptioon usually go to?

Hi, I am thinking of having my ceremony/reception at the same place, not sure exactly what time yet (maybe start late afternoon with ceremony,take pictures,then reception).I was just wondering how long do receptions usually last? I mean I want to have a good time, but I do not want my reception to end sooo late that im tired and then me and my FH have no alone time together.Are you supposed to discuss this with the dj etc. ahead of time? Thanks

I am having my reception and ceremony at the same place. We are getting married at 4:00 pm, ceremony will take about 1/2 hour, then we will have our pictures taken while our guests have cocktail hour. When all is said and done, our wedding will end around 11:00 pm which I think is a good time for everyone.
