Outdoor Wedding & Reception Venue preferrably with a lake or river view

Hi All,
I'm new here & have been doing a lot of research on line for the above venues. I've checked out Beaver Island Clubhouse & the Evangola state park bath house. Beaver island clubhouse is beautiful but I'm thinking it may be a little more formal than what I'm looking for. And I think the bath house at Evangola might be a tad to small. I'm looking for something casual where my guests can reklax & have a good time without worrying about dressing up. Also since it will be around the 4th of july weekend I'm hoping to take advantage of the fire works in the area. Does any one have any thoughts on the subject (venue location) & does any one know whether or not fireworks are visible @ Beaver Island or Evangola.

Woodlawn State Park, We just went there today and think that is where we are going to do it, Linda is amazing!

Banchetti's

I was recently at a wedding held in the Rose Room at Banchetti's in Amherst and it was the worst place someone could choose for their venue! The food was awful, service scarce and the place was disgustingly dirty. I was told that the bride & Groom only paid $33.95 per person that included a 5 hour bar. I guess you get what you paid for? I will never attend another event at this place again. It shows how cheap you really are, and if you want to impress your guests, I'd suggest going else where!

Beaver Island Clubhouse

I have to disagree regarding Beaver Island Clubhouse. My fiance and I have had nothing but good experiences with David and his staff and are getting married there on 9/2/12. David has been very accomodating and flexible and personally, I find it refreshing not to have one of those annoying stalkers contacting me everyday the minute I show interest in there venue. It's a gorgeous location that offers the indoor and outdoor (right on the water) feel. I wanted a location that was close to the Falls as well, and we hit the nail right on the head! Good luck!

I went to a wedding at the outdoor pavilion at Banchetti's a couple weeks ago. Very pretty place but the food was the worst I've EVER had.

They don't call you back, they no showed for my appointment to see the venue and still hasn't called me back. On top of that- their catering menu looks like crap! I'm still looking

Outdoor location

Try Kloc's Grove they have an awesome location that has a roof and retractable sides incase of bad weather. I did a wedding there last fourth of July and there were fireworks on both side of the hall - it was great

Have you looked into the Marcy Casino in Delaware Park? Its right on Hoyt Lake right near the Rose Garden and across the water from the Historical Society building. I believe there are a few different catering companies that you can choose from.

My sister had hers at the Lockport Canalside and it was very nice. Right on the water and she actually did a beautiful boat ride through them right after the ceremony

Shanghai Reds - Meredith

I was very impressed by Shanghai Reds, I would strongly suggest you check them out....I would have went with them had I had the money to afford it. It was roughly $56 a plate for a basic bar/hor d'ouerves/dinner package, not overpriced for how nice of a place it is, but a little out of my range. The views are amazing, the ballroom is spectacular.

Thank you

Thanks to all of you who gave me a little insight. I to have found David @ Beaver Island Clubhouse to be difficult to get a hold of. I had no idea about Holdiay Inn on Grand Island. The pictures look very nice & I like the fact that the fireworks are visible from there. I'm hoping to check it out in person soon. We were @ the Hatch @ the marina yesterday. They said they could cater a wedding and the spot (casual - just what I'm looking for) is ideal but the garage doors they have in case it rains are really ugly - so I don't know. But any way, thank you al lfor your responses!

Don't do it!

My best advice for you is to proceed with caution if you pursue the Beaver Island Clubhouse. As gorgeous and ideal as it might be, the caterer is a BUTT. Forgive my candor, but he is impossible to work with. I thought it was just me, but I've heard other stories as well. It's really unfortunate. Beaver Island is a State Park, and Scipione Catering is who they have contracted with. David (Scipione) is the one you would work with. He is offensive, irresponsible and unreliable (his staff even states so). First time meeting with him, he wore an offensive t-shirt (yes, t-shirt and jeans), then would NOT return any phone calls or emails, then FINALLY (after practically stalking him) he quoted me the wrong material. I emailed him and called him back to ask if he would re-quote the correct items and he has YET to respond...that was well over a month ago. We finally had to walk away. Technically we still have a hold on our date, but he won't even return a phone call so I can tell him to release the date.

Holiday Inn on Grand Island...the hotel is nice, re-modeled. However, the banquet room, unless they have it re-done in time, is very dirty and smelly. I hear their food is less than stellar as well. View is nice though.

We wanted something on the water too - - we ran into the same problem. I wish I could be more helpful. Depending on size, Harry's Harbour could be perfect. The woman I spoke with there was VERY nice and it would be a great setting...it was just too small for us. Check out Pearl Street Grill as well - - they aren't "on the water" but you'd be up high and can see a lot of Buffalo. It's very nice. Parking is a bit tricky, but they have events there all the time. Food is great.

Good luck!!

You can't see any fireworks from the Beaver Island clubhouse. Try the Holiday Inn on Grand Island, as you will get a front row view of the fireworks over the canal and about 3 other sites. Hope this helps.

banchetti's/avanti mansion

where at Beaver Island would you be getting married?
Ideas that I have for outdoor wedding & reception would be Avanti Mansion, Banchetti's. Both places have large tents they put up for an outdoor reception and the grounds are very pretty for the ceremony. sorry but neither of them are on the water.
harry's harbour is on the water. it is pricey but it's very pretty
