Reception Music

Here,s the dilemma, We are on a pretty tight budget, and getting married on August 6th 2010. We aren't really fond of Dj's or the show that they present and don't want to pay $600 for a DJ because we don't have that kind of money. We recently thought about using an Ipod for the entire reception and having a friend do all the announcements and dances etc. However, the guests don't get to request and I'm not sure if it's tacky and will come across like that. What do you think? Second of all, I just found online how some places will rent out JukeBoxes and I thought that would be really cool because then guests could request and it would be a little old fashioned part of the reception. But I'm having trouble finding places that will rent them out or even offer that service. Does anyone know of a business that rents them out? Please any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I'm racking my brain about this DJ scenario. Thanks again!!!

Do not use your own ipod. I have seen plenty of weddings fall apart because of the lack of someone keeping the flow and vibe going. Weddings that don't use one tend to be calmer and sedated. I would say call Premier Sound, CJ Sound, Absolute Sound and Signature to get pricing. You don't want to spend the night changing songs and going from a fast song to a slow song to a fast song to a bad song.... I have seen it kill a wedding that you just spent thousands on.
