when did you start to wedding gown shop?
Hi, I was just wondering when did you start to look/try on wedding gowns before your wedding? I got engaged to my Fiance on December 25, 2008. I will be going back to school in August switching majors and was thinking of starting to shop/try on some dresses when the Fall semester ends in December(we will be engaged a year by then together 6). I then will have 3 semesters left (graduating May 2011). We have not set an exact date yet, but we probably will get married in either, July,August,or September 2011. I have like 12 dresses saved to my favorites online, and would like to start narrowing them down in December. What did you do/think? Also, last December we found out my Grandma has stage 4 lung/liver cancer and is doing okay now, but I am taking that into consideration to, because I would want her to be a part of it. Thanks :)

I would start about a year in advance. You don't want to look too early as styles change. Also you dont want to wait too long as dresses can take about 4-9 months to come in. I got engaged 3/28 and starting looking for dresses right away. I went to four different bridal shops and tried on 50 different dresses before I found the one at the Bridal Chateau. My wedding is June 10,20 and I picked out my dress on July 3, 2009 gave myself a few weeks to think about it and ordered it on July 31 and hopefully it will be here by November in plenty of time for alterations. Good luck with dress shopping and have fun!

You should start shopping sooner than later because it is a huge expense and the more time that you have to prepare for the entire wedding process the better. I am getting married on August 6th, 2010 and I already have my dress picked out and have started paying money on it. It really is a TON of planning so as soon as you get the ambition to start shopping or the money to start shopping, I would say go for it. Why not! Also, I would agree that you look at tons and tons of dresses online and you think that you like a particular one and that this other style is hideous and then you get in the dress shop and everything changes. Things look different on, and colors change. I changed my bridesmaid color 3 times before choosing purple from Alfred Angelo. Just play around with stuff! It can be fun!

I would start looking whenever you want! It's your time! However, I wouldn't actually choose the dress you want until maybe a year before. Your taste could change, new styles come out, etc.
I also looked at TONS of designers online and had a bunch of dresses picked out before I started going shopping. I wish I hadn't wasted my time. When I got to the dress shops (and I went to Bridal Chateau and Classic Bridal, two of the more popular shops around here), they didn't have the majority of the dresses I had picked. Also, the dresses my friend and the bridal consultant picked out not only looked better on me, but I ended up liking better. I ended up going with a totally different style of dress then I thought I would.....
Good luck, and have fun! Dress shopping is my favorite part of planning so far!!!
