St. Joseph's Cathedral

Hey everybody, has anybody had any experience with St. Joseph's cathedral downtown? The priest told me I could not be up on the altar when we do our vows and I am concerned that no one will be able to see us during the ceremony. Could anybody let me know if they've heard of good or bad experiences there. Thanks.

Married there Sept. 09

I had my wedding at the Cathedral about a month ago. Msgr. Cambell is a pain in the butt and NOT fun to work with. We ended up getting a priest from another parish and brought him to our wedding just so that Msrg. Campbell wouldn't be present. I am currently in the process of contacting the Bishop of Buffalo to let him know how horrible Msgr. Campbell is. But... the church was breathtaking and well worth the problems with the priest to have the amazing memories that we do! Feel free to email me at kristeng03@yahoo.com if you have additional questions!!

St Josephs-very strict

Yes,the priest is very strict.I have shot a few wedding videos there and its not a bad idea to have a second camera when you are limited on where you must stay and not being able to move.An additional camera can make all the difference to create an awesome video.I know the church has a echo to it as well,so a wireless mic should always be used.It will make your video so much better and at times when a priest speaks low, that mic will pick him up as well.If I remember correctly though, that priest had no problem projecting his voice. He just has to remember its not his day.

I'm getting married there in September... please let me know how yours turns out! When is your wedding? Are you having a videographer? I heard Msgr. Campbell is extremely strict on the video & photographer... which is why I'm considering bringing in a different priest from another parish!
Can't wait to hear about yours!

My Fiance's brother got married there last year and he and the bride were standing in front of the alter and you could see everything. It was very beautiful but very hot! no air conditioning and it was a 90 degree day in July.

I have shot a few weddings at St. Joesph's and they always had the bride and groom in front of the alter rather than on it.
It is definitely a beautiful church for weddings!!! Good Luck
