Pearl Street vs. The Ramada
I am deciding between having my reception at either Pearl Street or the Ramada. However, if it is at Pearl Street it would be on the 2nd floor and therefore being sharing the floor with bar patrons. Has anyone either been to a wedding at Pearl Street on the 2nd floor or the Ramada. I would love to know what is better. Thanks so much!

Just recently I went to Peatl Street for my best friends wedding and it was great, they had 3 other events going on but not once did we have bad service, everything was wonderful, from the food, to the staff. My friend is still getting great comments from her guest. Take my word for it, if you can get Pearl Street for your reception you won't regret it.

And I am very excited about it! A banquet room is like a blank canvas - you need to know how to make it your own. We will be transforming that room with lots of great lighting. If you want a room that looks like any other ballroom, you can go anywhere, but for most of the big hotels, you'll be paying a guarantee for using the ballroom. Saturdays are the most expensive - Adam's Mark wanted $15,000 for a Sat night, are you kidding?! Millennium & Hilton Garden also had minimums that were very high, and my guest list is at 150! I couldn't imagine guaranteeing $10,000 with food & drink for 150 guests. We're around $8,000 and all will be well fed and have open bar for the evening.
Oh and Alison is the consultant there - she's fabulous! I recommend you call her and get a sense of her personality for yourself. She's taking care of everything from the moment the first guest arrives - I don't even need to hire a wedding planner! Front desk girl, I'm sure she's already gone and failed out of UB or something - not a make or break situation.
I too looked at tons of places in Buffalo & Rochester and my decision was easy when I went to the Ramada.
Also, at some of the bigger hotels you could also be sharing a divided ballroom with another wedding! Almost worse than sharing with the bar guests downstairs at Pearl Street.

Pearl street is not what it used to be. I attended a recent wedding there and you could hear the wedding below us with a very bad sound system.

I would definitely go with Pearl St. My sister in law had her wedding there and it was wonderful! The food was amazing! Natalie who is in charge with the weddings is absolutely wonderful. She went above and beyond what a venue planner would do. I cant remember if it was the 2nd or third floor though. good luck in your planning!

I've never been to Pearl Street for a wedding, but I have heard good things from friends. I am not sure about the 2nd floor thing sharing it with bar patrons? Seems a little strange.
I visited the Ramada as one of my initial top choices. I hated it. The catering manager was kind of snippy and very mean to the front desk girl when she gave her the wrong room key to show us a room. I don't know about you, but if she is that mean to someone for something so minor, how does she handle her catering employees and how would she handle me as her client?
The rooms are hideous and in severe need of remodeling. If you are considering a hotel, I would take a look at the Millenium or Hilton Garden Inn Airport. I wasn't initially crazy about the location of the Millenium, but the facility is really nice, the prices are reasonable and alot of their hotel rooms are newly remodeled. The courtyard area is also nice for your cocktail hour. The Hilton Garden Inn's banquet manager is really nice and accomodating, her and the chef seem to have a great relationship, their prices are very reasonable, the rooms are gorgeous, they have an outside courtyard area, and a nice banquet room. The only drawback is that it won't hold more than 175 comfortably (that's why I didn't book there, we have over 200).
Hope this helps, I looked at about 25 places so let me know if you would like any other feedback.
