Historical Society

Has anyone been to the Buffalo & Erie County Historical Society for a reception? I am a little hesitant on prices and the fact that Oliver's restaurant is the only choice for catering. I would like to have a fall 08 reception. I am also considering Kloc's and Shanghai Red's.

LOOKING FOR 40-45 PEOPLE WEDDING. IS THE DELAWARE MANSION A REPUTABLE VENUE? LOOKING FOR A MORE 'VINYARD STYLE' SETTING... OUTDOORS. OUTDOORS WOULD BE NICE. BUT WOULD SETTLE FOR INDOORS. NO MORE THAT 52$$ PER PERSON. ANY SUGGESTIONS. MODEST PRICED WE ARE COMING IN FROM FLORIDA. SHANGHAIS SOUNDS NICE.

Hi. I was married in the rose garden in delaware park. you can't bring in decorations, etc. We brought the aisle runner, you can do bubbles. They provide the chairs at a small fee, you pay for a permit...we had a few people playing instruments for the ceremony...

Does anyone know how many people the Buffalo Historical Society can accomodate. Also, I'm hoping to have the ceremony at the same place as the receptions. Do you think the Buffalo Historical Society could accomodate that as well. Thanks for the help!

My daughter got married there and it was the most wonderful wedding- Oliver's food was the best and they took care of every detail all evening. everyone should be so lucky to have a recetion there.

Thanks!

We looked at Shanghai Red's. There was an absolutely disgusting smell down on the waterfront that day which really turned us off. The rooms were okay, really nothing great. The sales staff turned us off with trying to find out if we would meet their $9,000 minimum for a Saturday wedding. Those things just left a bad taste in our mouth and we didn't pursue it further.

We looked at Klocs too, but if you have $9,00 to spend on F&B I would definetely recommend the mansion on delaware avenue. They offer flat rate pricing depending on the day of the week. You can have as many people up to their maximum and as much food and drink.

We wound up moving our wedding to the Top of the Falls restaurant on Goat Island. If you get married there after Labor Day you will have the whole place to yourself. Our menu is totally customizeable and the view is simply to die for. The decor is very contemporary and the manager is great to work with. We are going to have our ceremony outside, on goat island too. Oh, and our date is in September 2008....

Hope this helps!

Hi! I would love to get married outside. The Rose Garden is open at delaware park but the woman said you cant really bring anything in. Has anyone done this or know of other places in buffalo? Thanks so much!

There are several options - the Mansion on Delaware is great for an event (I would not suggest going over 100 for sit down), the International Institute is also great and you may bring in any caterer that you wish (I work with BinksBerry and Glorious Affairs quite often), the Church on Delaware (Ani DiFranco's place) is fab .. the choices are many and I know that it can be confusing!

Shanghi Red's
