Outdoor Reception

I want to have an outdoor reception (tented or under a covering incase of rain) next summer, 2008. So far I'm looking at the Avanti Mansion, Kloc's Grove, and Obrien's Sleepy Hollow. Avanti seems like it might be too pricy..... does anyone have experience with Kloc's or Obrien's?

Also, where should I go for a quote on altering a wedding dress? My mom wants me to wear hers but I said only if it can be SEVERLY updated!!!

We had an out door ceremony and the reception along the creek at O'Brien's. (July 2010) The scenary was beautiful and the food was the best , we are still getting rave reviews on our entire wedding but especially the food and the beautiful location. I don't usually post such things, who has the time? But after reading the comment below on O'Brien's i felt compelled to make write. We received our contract in a timely fashion and there were no suprises, in fact we made some changes to the menu and there was no upcharge. This place is absolutely beautiful. They delivered on all of there promises and they exceeded our high expectations.

Avoid Obriens Grove at all costs! We wanted an outdoor reception and we paid a depoist for Obriens. They refused to give us the contract for almost a full year - by the time they did they had rasied all of their prices. They also created many new charges. It was too late to do anything, so now we are stuck in-doors. I'm amazed that place like that can remain in business!

YES - they have discounted prices for kids and even have special kid meals, like chicken fingers and french fries. I think it was about $17.00 for the kids, including their drinks!! They said that really small kids were FREE!!

They definitely DON'T have a minimum head count. I asked 'cuz some of the other banquet places we looked at did.

I still plan on looking at Avanti.... probably next week sometime. Do they have a minimum headcount requirement?

Do you know of any places that give a discount for children? Over half of my fiance's side of the family are kids under 10 years but I can't imagine paying $30 to $50 for each kid to have next to nothing to eat.....

We are having our reception at the Avanti Mansion, but looked at a bunch of other places including Kloc's and O'briens. NO COMPARISON! I've heard nothing but GREAT things about Avanti and their food. Besides, the place is BEAUTIFUL!!

We didn't think it was "pricy" especially when you consider everything they give you. And even though we are planning a Saturday wedding, they had awesome discounts for Friday's and Sundays. PLUS, we will be the only ones at Avanti and at the other places there would be other events going on.

I'm not rich, but I want the perfect Wedding. Location was really important to me and my fiancee.

You've heard the saying, "You get what you pay for."
