SMALL WEDDING DILEMMA

I am looking for some place that can accomodate an intimate wedding
ceremony and reception for 20 people. The reception would be more like a
wedding dinner, no dancing, just family mingling.

Anyone have any great ideas? I am totally reaching, and not finding any inspiration.

You can look at the Van Horn Mansion. It's in Newfane, so it may be a little far depending on where you live. It's a recently restored historic manor, really lovely. I've been to two small weddings there, as well as a wedding shower, and all were very beautiful!

I'm having my wedding ceremony at the Kenan Center in Lockport, NY. It a very nice historical building. Check them out @ www.kenancenter.org

FYI - I attended a very small wedding at the Avanti Mansion last year and it was beautiful! Very similar to what you described. The brde and groom got married inside the mansion right in front of the fireplace. Then we had cocktails and appetizers, followed by a fabulous sit-down dinner. It's not a resturant or a banquet facility. It's more like an actual house, which made it a very intimate setting.

There is so many places in Buffalo to accomodate your needs. Any reception location will be able to assist you. My favorites would be The Avanti Mansion, Harry's Harbour, Brierwood Country Club, Mansion on the Delaware and Fox Valley Country Club.
